Image of planetary alignment over Giza Pyramids goes viral
The image of Mercury, Venus and Saturn aligning over the Giza Pyramids hit the Internet community in full force over the weekend, appearing on Facebook, Pinterest and other social networking sites, setting the community abuzz with oohs and aahs over the spectacular image of planets aligning over the Giza pyramids against a deep blue sky.
The image is a spectacular sight. Unfortunately it isn't completely accurate says Illinois Sky Watch. The computer generated image was created by Charles Marcello who reportedly created the image using Starry Night Pro an astronomy software program.
Charles Marcello published both the image and his rational for the image on World Mysteries Blog. It was subsequently republished by theGlobal Illumination Council.
According to Discover Magazine's Bad Astronomy, Mercury, Venus and Saturn will indeed fall into alignment over the Giza pyramids on December 3, 2012, but they will appear higher in the sky on a nearly vertical angle.
Although each may align with the top of one of the three pyramids, they will not appear at the angle suggested in the computer-generated photo. It further explains that the images of the pyramids are in the wrong order as the picture was taken facing northwest. A person viewing the pyramids from this perspective would not be able to see the planets align, as they would be behind the viewer.
Marcello attributes this planetary alignment over the pyramids of Giza as a sign or warning about a specific date and suggests that date is December 21, 2012 as indicated as the end of the world by the Mayan Calendar.
Marcello notes
". . . that planetary convergence only happens every 2,737 years, and its different for at least 2 more cycles running the program forward… and doesn't happen again for over 28,000 YEARS if you run that program backwards in time…"
According to Discover Magazine, this isn't exactly true. Mercury, Venus and Saturn actually aligned in 2005 – but did not align with the tops of the Giza Pyramids.
Marcello continues,
Marcello continues, "I believe the evidence absolutely proves that what I discovered explains that the pyramids where built to honor (or warn about) specific time marked by the planetary convergence…"
For those looking for signs and wonders, the planetary alignment over the Giza Pyramids on December 3, 2012 may support their cause. But for those looking to view the spectacular sight in the image, the news isn't quite as good.
Go ahead and take a look for yourself slightly before dawn on December 3, 2012 to view the planetary alignment over the Pyramids of Giza, just don't expect to see star-topped pyramids glistening against a blue-black sky.
